2011South America and Caribbean
Oceania
Researcher Detail
Description: This is a documentary exhibited in national television which describes the visit for the first time ever of a Chilean circus to the Island of Rapa Nui, better known as Easter Island. This event was produced by Pilar Ducci in 2010, financed by the Ministry of Culture of Chile, as part of the Bicentennial celebrations of Chile. The documentary reflects on the encounter of the Rapa Nui, polynesian people who in most cases had never seen a circus show in their life, with the circus, the artists and all its activity.  This event is considered of enormous relevance, because Easter Island presents serious geographic difficulties for the logistics and transportation of an entire circus.
